Suggest Treatment For Strangulated Umbilical Hernia

Thank you, I am 65 years old have had an umbilical hernia, since birth. Yesterday during a work out my umbilical area became extremely sore and budged out. After some phone calls , ended up in the ER with what I believe they called a strangulated umbilical hernia, which they pushed back in. Very painful as you may have heard. Is there a general consensus as to what type of repair should be done , which they indicated needed to be repaired. Thanks again. Ron Harling

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

First you have to do an abdominal ultrasound. It is important to push the trapped tissues back into the abdominal cavity to prevent being permanently damaged. Best treatment for strangulated hernia is surgery. Take an appointment with Surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
