Suggest Treatment For Strep Infection With Headache And Body Ache

Last week my 9 year old son was diagnosed with strep. This week his twin brother started with the same symptoms...headache, bellyache, fever, sore throat. Fevers have been has high as 102.7. Pediatrician called in amoxicillin. He has had 4 doses. She is still running a fever up to 102 and occasionally as low as 97.5. When he was 97.5 earlier he had blue lips and chattering teeth. I warmed him up and his lips were the same color as his cheeks. So at this point, as a nurse, I m thinking he may not have strep.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of strep infection with headache and body ache which is due to poor immunity of body and bacterial infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid intake of cold liquids. Avoid intake of excessive oily, fried and spicy food. Do tepid sponging as well. Give child oral rehydrating solution as well. Visit pediatrician/ ENT specialist once if symptoms keeps on persisting and get blood tests and throat swab done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. You should do warm saline gargles on daily basis and take steam inhalation as well. You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin and antihistamine Levocetirizine for 3-4 days.
