Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, My girlfriend is currently dealing with what she thinks is depress E.G Suicidal thoughts, Low mood, Extremely short tempered and confrontational, No libido, Crying alot, Sleeping alot, Lazy, Not really being able to enjoy much. But we dont have insurance so i dont know what i should do?
The symptoms like low mood, confrontational nature, poor libido, crying spells, suicidal ideation, laziness and drowsiness etc can occur due to depression. These symptoms need proper evaluation by a psychiatrist and proper treatment. If you don't have insurance then you can visit a GP nearby for evaluation. Medicines like SSRIs can help to reduce the symptoms of depression. Sertraline, Fluoxetine, Paroxetine etc can help to improve her mood and she will come out of the depression.
Apart from this cognitive therapy has excellent results in depression. This will help to reduce unwanted and faulty thought processes and will help. Visit a doctor for evaluation.
Thanks, hope this helps you. Take care
