Suggest Treatment For Stretch Marks On The Back Of The Legs

Hi, my daughter has what looks like stretch marks on the back of her legs. She has been putting shea butter and retinol on them. Today she sent me a picture of them and they look a lot darker and almost blood red. Is it possible it is something else,ka also said it is starting to hurt.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Probably your daughter is applying too many lotions and applying a lot of pressure and causing local trauma to the local stretch marks. This may cause the skin to get darker and even red and painful.

I would advise her to give a break to her skin and not use anything locally but vaseline daily to keep the skin moisturized. Also, she will need to see her doctor to determine if further treatment is needed.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

Regards,
