I have a grandchild who is three in May. She was a very early talker and could carry on a conversation at a very young age. She now is stuttering with a lot of her words... in a sentence.. is this something we should be concerned about She is worse when she is tired but now we see it happening all day. Should we be concerned yet? This has been happening for about a month.. There also has been a new baby in the family? She is a very BRIGHT child.... Thank you fro your advice
Hello, Welcome to HCM This is Dr. Swarnava dattagupta answering your query.
See, stuttering or stammering in a child is very common. This generally happens when a child is exposed to external world for first time, like pre-school and all. It generally gets well on its own. But sometimes it continues in adolescence and can be difficult to treat. Happens more when someone is tensed and talking many things at once. Anyways, I would suggest you to visit a speech therapist. They provide wonderful treatment for early childhood stuttering.
Hope this was helpful. Regards
