Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an immediate onset of a cough then chills, fever, headache and eye pain with sensitivity to light as of 5:00 p.m. yesterday. I was nasal swabbed for flu today and advised it was not flu and advised if it gets worse go to the emergency room. My chills are really bad tonight and my eyes ache. I know this could be numerous issues but am curious if there is a particular issue that I should be tested for in general with these symptoms. Thank you, Mike
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of fever and cough which is due to persistence of respiratory tract infection which is getting chronic and leading to such symptoms. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay , because sometimes infection can spread to surrounding . Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test or virus culture test. You should go for pulmonary function tests as well to find out exact extent of infection. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with decongestants and mucolytic agents . i would suggest to take decongestant nasal sprays containing mucinex for instant relief , avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods , use throat lozenges and go rinses with warm saline water.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
