Indian/Asian skin gets tanned of the high melanin content.
UV A, a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum is mainly responsible for tanning, Therefor, a good sunscreen should protect not only against UV B but also against UV A as well. Therefore it is important to select a broad spectrum sunscreen to be effective.
A sunscreen with minimum spf 40 to 50 is generally considered to be broad spectrum. It should be applied every 2-3 hours to the exposed skin.
At night you could use a cream containing one or more of the skin lightening agents like glycolic acid (e.g Glyco-A 12 % cream) OR Kojic acid (e.g Kojic cream) to gradually fade away the tan
You can also opt for a few chemical peeling session from a dermatologist. Glycolic peel and Retises-CT peel are effective anti tanning peels.
