Suggest Treatment For Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence
I ve had most of the symptoms of SSCD (Semicircular Canal Dihisence) for the past year or more. Autophony and vertigo being the main ones. I get vertigo when I strain the slightest bit, cough or sneeze. Also when I hum at a certain pitch and volume everything goes on tilt. Very scary, especially while driving. I used to enjoy singing along with my CD while driving but it s now too dangerous! The autophony is also quite annoying, as when I speak I can t hear anything else, as my own voice is amplified extremely loud in my head. My question is, could there be another cause for these symptoms other than SSCD? Could a simple buildup of ear wax cause this? I can hear fine normally. So I didn t think ear wax buildup was the cause, but I may be wrong....
Hi, Welcome to healthcare magic. I had gone through your question. I can understand your concern. This could be due to SSCDS. You need a high resolution CT scan and Vestibular evoked myogenic potential test for confirmation. This may not be due to ear wax. If the diagnosis is confirmed, you may require a surgical intervention. Consult an ENT surgeon and discuss regarding the same. You will be fine. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help. Wish you a good health and speedy recovery. Regards, Dr Paparaja S MBBS MS Consultant ENT Surgeon
