Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Bruise On Hands After Injury

I fell on the ice a week ago and used my hands to protect my head. My left hand had a black bruise covering the palm and the top of the hand was mainly swollen with some bruising. I can use all my fingers and bend them. The swelling went away but now it seems to be comming back and the "pinkie" side just past the wrist is tender to touch. Can a bone be broken even when I can bend the fingers?
