Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain In Arm After Blood Test

Hi I had a blood test today and for the first time I have a lot of pain at the arm (biceps especially) It is so swollen, I can t extend it properly and I feel pain every movement I make. they are few bruises like as well (blu areas) near to the puncture, and up and down of it (my skin is quite tan so they are hard to see). I can t contract the muscle of the biceps and my all arm feels heavy. Had fingers little bit tingling earlier. The doc said all is ok and it could be because my vein is so big.. but I would like an explanation (if possible) of what is happening :). Ah, after the blood test I had to lay down for another test with my arms bended at the elbow for about like 10 minutes. Thanks a mil

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is probably a hematoma. Completely benign, but irritating. Put some ice on It and wait. If the pain intensifies or your arm turns numb, contact a doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
