Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain In Hands And Finger Joints

I ve been waking up with swelling and pain in my hands and finger joints. The pain and swelling subside after about 10 minutes of getting out of bed. I have been treated for ankylosing spondylitis since 2013 with humira and it helps with the pain in my spine and si joints, but this hand thing is a new symptom for about 3/4 weeks now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to rheumatoid arthritis. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day to relieve the pain.

I also suggest hot and cold compresses for relieve. If the pain continues you should consult a rheumatologist for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
