Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Red Bruising On Hips After Injury

I fell on our stairs walking down, landing on my high right side hip, there is a 2 inch red mark, and it does hurt to walk, but Motrin does help, it s only been 20 hours since accident, I can bare weight on it, walk fast, just painful when I touch or push on the area, seems like it s the very upper hip area, anyway just wondering if it s just super bruised bone??? Any info would be great, I don t see no swelling, just that red mark bruise where the edge hit it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear user, thanks for consulting Healthcaremagic and sharing your concerns, I thought you dont have any fractured because you can walk and do not have inflammation, the red bruises is normal due the big impact that you received, I recommend you ice bag 3-4 times a day per 30 minutes, apply gentle ice/hot gel or cream 3 times a day and some pain killers by mouth as needed, just in case that you noticed swelling start taking anti-inflammatory treatment 2 times a day, vitamins supplements and a limited physical activity is helpful as well, take care. I hope that my advice has been helpful, regards
