Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Redness On The Face

Hi, I am experiencing some redness and swelling on my face like a sun burn for about a month. Is it lupus. My family doctor gave me minocycline and hydroval cream. And ask me to do some blood tests. Is there any other treatment than antibiotics for lupus? Thanks, Pindi

Hi!! there are a number of diseases that cause redness and swelling on the face apart from lupus like contact dermatitis, photosensitive rash,etcetera. The blood tests will help in making the diagnosis. The hydroval cream prescribed to you is ok but there is no role of minocycline in the treatment of lupus. Infact minocycline induces lupus in some individuals. There are a number of medicines for treatment of lupus but hydroxychloroquine is considered the first line therapy.
