Suggest Treatment For Swelling Behind Head After Injury

My boyfriend fell off of a stool and hit his head on a wall. There was no loss of consciousness but he has had some swelling on the back of his head behind his ear. It is tender to the touch and feels like their may be some fluid in there now. Could this be from blunt trauma to the post auricular vein? He is not showing any signs of AMS, no headaches or nausea just pain and swelling one week out.

Hi there.

This could be a scalp haematoma. Nothing to worry. Just keep watch of his condition. Apply ice to the painful regions. If he gets drowsy, takes him to the ER.
