Symptoms depends on the amount of exposure ranging from mild breathlessness, to nausea, headache, vomiting, pulmonary edema, etc. Local injection of the hydrocarbon may cause fat necrosis with sterile abscess that is necrosis of the local tissue. If the exposure is very minimal, it may relieves after mild skin irritation. There may be tissue necrosis which might be removed surgically for better outcome.
