Suggest Treatment For Swelling In My Ankle

I have rolled my ankle a couple weeks ago. I t was bruised and swollen for the first week or so. I tried to stay off of it as much as I can and the pain has been reducing since it happened but I still feel pain so I bought a ankle wrap. when I put it on I moved around in it a little and the pain was almost unbearable. I left it on for 20 minutes or so and hte pain would just not stop. I finally took the thing off and the pain immediately stopped. Did I wrap it too tight? Am i better off not wrapping it?
