Hi Dear,
Welcome to HCM.
Understanding your concern.
Thanks for your query . Swelling usually occur on face after
injury and remain for 2-3 days . But if swelling persist for more then 3 days then it could be a
hematoma . Hematoma formed when there is blood seepage due
soft tissue and blood vessel injury occur and blood get accumulated under skin and doesn't absorbed by body .
I would suggest you to give cold compresses to face 2-3 times a day and take ibuprofen(if not allergic ) or
acetaminophen for pain and swelling .
If condition doesn't get better in 3-4 days then consult oral/maxilofacial surgeon for proper examination .
Doctor may take history ,order X-ray and
CT scan to rule out cause fractured jaw or dislocation of temporomandibular koint.
Doctor may drain the swelling, do wiring of jaw if there is fracture or fix the jaw in right position if dislocation is there .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
