Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Face

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... I am in pain! The right side of my face is swollen from my temple to my jaw into my cheek. I am starting to have trouble with my right jaw moving. This all started with my ear having pain then would pop and drain green and black. I told my doc hae looked and said it looked fine. Then a knot came up under the right ear. He said just a lymphnode no prob. Now that knot is the size of a ping pong ball and very painful!!!! That knot is below my earlobe and jawline. I feel so sick. I dont want to go again and be dismissed but my hearing in that ear is gone this morning!!! Please help me!!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain draining black and green from ear is not a normal finding and is a clear cut indication of ear infection and the swollen and painful lymph node is also due to infection and as there is swelling in temple, jaw and cheek can be due to infection extending into facial spaces and you will have to take immediate medical attention..
Consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and an Otoscopic examination and swab culture of the discharge will help in confirmation of the cause and treatment can be planned accordingly..
For infection you can be advised to take antibiotics [oral and ear drops], painkillers, steroids, decongestants and if required drainage of the pus has to be done..
If required injectable antibiotics and painkillers can be advised..
As of now you can do alternate warm and cool compresses over the effected side and take Ibuprofen for pain..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
