Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Hip Region After Injury
I had a seizure about a week ago and injured my leg. There was major swelling on my hip and I limped bad for a while, but that s letting up. My concern now is my ankle and calf on that leg are horribly swollen. Is there anything to be concerned about or a home remedy I can try? I am 36 years old, not diabetic, and walk a lot regularly.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM The treatment of your your problem will depend on the underlying cause.Possible causes of your symptoms may include: an ankle sprain/fracture, Achille's tendinitis, cellulitis or other soft tissue infection, deep venous thrombosis. With all these possible causes, only a physical examination by a Doctor will help to identify the cause.Home measures will be limited to symptomatic management and the problem might get worse if caused by a serious medical condition.I will advise you take pain/antiinflammatory medications like ibuprofen, take a diuretic like furosemide, elevate the leg while lying and avoid stressing the leg.You may then go to the Doctor for examination and work-ups.An ankle x ray, a full blood count and if need be, a Doppler ultrasound may be requested. Hope my answer will help you Wish you a speedy recovery
