Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Labia Minora

Hi, my 22 year old daughter is visiting in Australia and thought she had a UTI. She is taking cranberry pills and also drinking lots of water and cranberry juice. She traveled 15 hours by air to get to Australia. My concern is that she also has swelling of the labia. She has been taking 400 mg of ibuprofen 3x a day for the past 3 days. What else can she do for the swelling, she doesn t want to keep taking ibuprofen.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Seems that your daughter is having vaginitis with or without Bartholin gland infection.

Apart from analgesia and cranberry juice, she requires the prescription of antibiotics and antifungal medications to cure the infection and swelling at earliest and prevent any further spread of infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
