Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Perineum

I have suffered tremendously with swelling in my Perinium area for a couple of years after having E-Coli, Entercoccus and Staphylococcus Aureus infections from eating spoiled crab. I have seen many doctors and none kinow what to do for the swelling. The Neuropathic MRI showed edema in my Obturator Internus Muscle and edema in my Gluteal muscles. It is so painful!! Do you have a suggestion?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Anti-inflammatory medications include the NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Voltaren, Cataflam, Celebrex, naproxen etc) or steroid meds.

Taking a course of one of these medications for at least 2 weeks may be helpful in reducing your discomfort.

Making sure not to strain to avoid stressing out these areas may also help. Use enough fluids and fiber to avoid this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
