I recently had a live exotic herb and plant wreath in my house and I moved it outside being uncomfortable breathing it. 3 days later after a day out when I got home my tongue was scalloped and swollen and I felt worse. They gave me flu test and I have flu a. Why is my tongue scalloped? The dr couldn't even tell me just said could have been something I ate or drank. Never had swollen tongue with the flu and it's still scalloped.??
Your tongue seems to be swollen due to some unknown allergen causing an allergic reaction. Scalloping of tongue is due to swelling only that is causing pressing of tongue against the teeth and due to this there is indentation or marks of teeth on tongue giving it a scalloped appearance.
Do not worry as there is nothing to worry about scalloping. You should consult an emergency room and get a blood test done to rule out the cause of swelling. Try avoiding exposure to the allergen once it is ruled out. Take anti0allergics like Benadryl to reduce swelling.
