My tonsils and glands are swollen, there is white spots on both of my tonsils and the back of my tongue looks yellow and as though there is something coating it. I m having difficulty swallowing, in pain and i consistently feel like something is stuck in my throat. I don t have a fever and i feel like my throat is very dry and i m drinking a lot of fluids. Any idea what it could be?

Hello,

I would explain that your symptoms are suggestive of a bacterial infection, probably streptococcus infection.

For this reason, I recommend consulting as soon as possible with your attending physician for a physical exam and performing a throat bacterial culture coupled with blood lab tests for strep infection. Antibiotics may be needed.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka
