Hello, and i hope I can help you today.
You certainly can chafe or
bruise yourself if you continue to have sex while not being adequately lubricated, especially if it becomes painful.
I agree with you that you may have burst a blood vessel in your labia causing bleeding under the skin. The trapped blood under the skin can cause a lump or swelling called a
hematoma. Hematomas can form during childbirth, with straddle injuries and even with sex. They usually are purple like a bruise at first, and then may fade to skin color.
The best way to get the swelling to go down is to put ice on the area, alternating on and off every 20 minutes until you get pain relief. Anti-inflammatory pain medication like
Ibuprofen can also help with the pain. It may take a couple weeks for your labia to heal fully.
In the meantime, I suggest you refrain from further sexual activity until the swelling has resolved. To help prevent this from happening, using a lubricant if you want to have sex before your natural lubrication has fully developed can reduce chafing and also make intercourse more pleasurable.
I hope I was able to answer your question today and that my advice was helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
