Suggest Treatment For Swelling Of Ankle And Toes After Hip Replacement

I had total hip replacement on February 14, 2011 with titanium and porcelian. I have a lot of swelling from the left ankle to the toes. I have had a doppler study done with no clots present The physician indicated this could continue on for a while. Some have swelling longer than others. What is your opinion? I am 70 years of age, had several arthritis pain and had the anterior approach done. I'm 5'6" and weight 182 pounds.
