Suggest Treatment For Swelling On Ankles And COPD

My husband is a truck driver. I often go with him on the road. I have copd and am overweight. I have begun swelling fairly severely and in the ankles and legs the skin has gone shiny but also flaky and peeling, leaving behind red spots. There is sometimes a patchy rash, other times not.I have started wearing compression socks, which seem to help to some degree, but the dryness etc. is now worse. Not sure if this anything to be overly concerned about, or just part of this weight gain and getting older.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi..
Thanks for your query..
COPD with swelling of feet might suggestive of mild right sided heart failure. It is usually associated with breathlessness & disturbed sleep. Swollen feet can lead to dermatitis- peeling of skin, red spots etc. I suggest you to consult doctor to rule out above condition.
Thank you
