Suggest Treatment For Swelling On Forehead After Injury
My child had a fall at school and hit the area right above the eye. The bump was closed no blood and went down after applying an ice pack. Now it seems to be swelling almost 8 hours after the fall. The lump is soft to the tough but still shows no signs of bruising or blood. should I take him into the ER or apply more ice?
Forehead & scalp has a rich supply of blood, and injury to these areas results in bleeding under the skin. When the bleeding is restricted to one area, it causes bruising and swelling, and it is referred to as hematoma. Hematomas tend to resolve over time. Occasionally, blow to the head may be severe enough to cause bleeding in the brain. This type of bleeding can cause an intracranial hematoma. Advice 1. Apply ice pack locally. Do not apply pressure as it will hinder natural process of healing 2. Apply Thrombophobe gel (heparing gel) locally every 4 hours for 10 days 3. Take rest for few days 4. Seek emergency medical help if your child experiences: unconsciousness, confusion or disorientation, vomiting, mood changes, memory loss, and persistent headache. Thanks
