Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have a swelling under my lower lip that literally appeared within the last five minutes. I haven't eaten any strange foods or put on any clothes with any of the substances I'm allergic to in/on them. The swelling is on the lower left and is throbbing mildly (oxymoronic, sorry) but what I mean is that it feels like it's pulsing? Like there's a muscle contraction going on? My mouth is not dry and I'm not having trouble breathing or swallowing. However, the swelling appears to be enlarging. What could this be?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain swelling under the lower lip that has occurred suddenly without eating anything weird that can cause allergic reaction seems to be most probably be due to any insect bite that has gone unnoticed by you and it is leading to a sudden allergic reaction leading to swelling.. Nothing to worry about it, you can take anti allergics like Allegra or benadryl.. You should do cool compresses over the swelling.. You can apply steroid ointment over it.. Avoid scratching it again and again as it can cause infection.. In case if there is no resolution in a week or symptoms worsen consult a General Physician or an Allergist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
