Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
57 yr old female, started menopause at age 50, 5 1 216 lbs. I just noticed that I no longer have hair on my calves, which is great that I don t have to shave anymore, but the calves and tops of my feet also tend to be swollen as well. is there any connection and should I see my dr about this?? thank you.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Swelling of calves and tops of feet is not likely to be associated with menopause. Infact the swelling of calves and feet can also be due to hypertension or some kidney problem. I suggest you to consult your primary health provider and get your blood pressure checked. High blood pressure can lead to swelling of lower limbs. Besides high blood pressure, kidney diseases can also lead to swelling of feet and legs. Control of blood pressure and management of kidney disease will help to resolve the swelling in lower limb.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
