Suggest Treatment For Swelling On The Gland And Difficulty Swallowing
I m 50 years old. This started as my right gland swelling and it was difficult to swallow. It just so happened that I experienced a migraine headache at the same time, which causes nausea. I took my prescribed Imitrex (which also gives me an upset stomach so I was sick all day on Saturday. The headache and vomiting continued through Sunday and I can only be left to think that I had some sort of bug. Today, I can swallow with little to no pain for the most part, but now my right ear aches (inner ear). I can feel the pain up into my right temple and from there is starting to feel numb/tingling. The numbness/tingling is moving from there up to the right side of my entire skull. I have an appointment with and ENT doctor on Thursday. Outside of my migraines, I haven t been sick in 12 years, so I m a little freaked out.
From your description, it seems that you have a throat infection coupled with ent infection. These have caused parotitis and salivary gland swelling. A course of antibiotics is must combined with other measures such as betadine gargle, steam inhalation etc. You can further revert back to me.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
