Suggest Treatment For Swelling On The Leg After An Injury

I tripped over a piece of wood inside. I have a rug burn on each leg and on the inside of the right shin bone I have a hard swelling the size of half a goose egg. There is a small light bruise on top of the goose egg. there is minimal discomfort when pressing on the egg. It is 3 inches by 2 inches and 3/4 of an inch high. it is adjacent to the rug burn on the front of the right shin bone. Does this hard egg need medical attention? YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The swelling you described sounds nothing serious. This may be a benign cyst or a lipoma or clotted blood of its recent one and at the site of trauma. Though it may not be serious it's always good to be seen by a doctor to exactly know as what it can be and how to plan ahead.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
