Suggest Treatment For Swelling On The Neck And Sore Chest
My daughter, who is 51 years old, has swelling on each side of her neck. She is quite tired and sleeps a lot. Her chest is sore and she has a dry cough. When she spoke with me, I first thought of mumps. She just got home from a cruise and was sick before and during the seven day cruise in the Caribbean. She tested negative for strep before the cruise.
The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be due to Tracheo-bronchial allergy.
Management consists of:
1. Anti-tussive preparation like Bromohexine to provide symptomatic relief from cough. 2. Montelukast preparations- used as a maintenance therapy to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies. 3. Antihistamines can also be used to provide symptomatic relief. 4. A course of antibiotic depending on culture & sensitivity reports. 5. Protection from exposure to cold, dust or other allergens.
If symptoms still persist, kindly consult a Pulmonologist for further evaluation & management. Investigations like complete blood count, X ray of chest & Pulmonary function test will be helpful.
Wishing your daughter a good health. Take care.
