Suggest Treatment For Swelling On The Nose Of A Toddler

I ve noticed my 3 year old s nose (bridge of nose) is swollen for some time, i thought i was imagining it but it is especially more noticeably swollen this morning. Her eyes look sunken at the inner corners and kind of like if she had dark circles under her eyes and a little puffy. she has not hit her face and she does not seem to be in pain when i touch it, nor does it feel hot when i touch it, and she doesn t have any redness. Although she does look pale. Her appetite varies some days she eats well and others just seems to have no appetite at all but always drinks liquids.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history about your 3 year old daughter about having a painless swelling over bridge of nose without tenderness, redness or so.
The commonest cause of such a swelling in a 3 year old is a dermoid cyst that develops in such positions.
These are congenital that is present before birth and carry on .
May be connected to the skull or brain coverings.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult a Pediatric surgeon for clinical evaluation and may be needs MRI or so to establish that it has no internal connections.
Once diagnosed this may need excision and diagnosis by sending the specimen for biopsy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
