Suggest Treatment For Swelling, Purple Bruising And Tender In Ankle After Injury
5 days ago I was helping family clear things out of their living room that was about to cave in from a recent storm, when the ceiling caved in and as I was running away the ceiling slung back and nailed me in the back of the foot. My ankle swelled up like a large goose egg and it hurt to walk on it. Now the whole area is just purple and tender to the touch but I can walk on it. It just hurts to wear certain shoes. Should I just wrap my foot or is it fine?
Hello there, As a doctor especially in joints like the ankle I will be happy if you could get an xray ankle joint (PA and lateral) viewstaken to rule out a fracture or a dislocation. The ankle is a place where people tend to ignore a fracture and walk on only to realize later it is not healing. Once your Xrays are clear the treatment is- Rest(Give the foot adequate rest) Alternate warm and cold compresses. You can have analgesic for the pain. T.ultracet 1/2 a tablet when required. Do not exceed 1 tablet a day. Also you need to take Tablet rantac(ranitidine) whenever you take an ultracet.
If you get the Xray done we can further discuss your treatment, Please feel free to address any further queries to me. I will be happy to help,
