My 22 you old son has redness and swelling of his right eyelid. The eye itself is fine. Should this be treated with antibiotic eyedrops? The clinic at his college prescribed a systemic steroid (Prednisone). I am worried from what Ive read online that it may be caused by staph bacteria.
I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that your son is having swollen and painful eyelid. This is commonly because of inflammatory dwellings of the glands of eyelids. The treatment is by use of antibiotics and antiinflammatory drugs. Steroids are better avoided as this looks like infection.
HI Well come to HCM Possibility of sty would be very likely and this does not need any eye drops or steroid and antibiotic but NSAID (Non steroid anti-inflammatory drug ) could be helpful and the best choice would be Tab Ibuprofen 400 mg three times in day, if this does not improved then better to see the ophthalmologist, hope this information helps, have a nice day.
