Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Lips After Chemotherapy
My sister is undergoing chemotherapy (Torisel) and radiation; she has also been exposed to hand, foot and mouth disease. Her lips are terribly swollen. Her oncologist told her to take Benadryl, her lips are swollen about four times normal (I don t think he realizes how bad it is). Could this be the hand, foot and mouth disease?
As per your query your sister has swollen lip after chemotherapy . The probable reason for the swollen lip is side effect of chemotherapy , because in case of hand , foot and mouth disease there is blisters that can occur on lips , but as described by you there is swollen lip which is not blister hence probable cause is allergic reaction due to chemotherapy . You doctor has suggeat you to do the right thing that is taking benadryl . I would suggest you to keep youself hydrate by drinking plenty of water , keep you head elevated while laying down , give cold compresses to lips and if condition doesn't get better or get worse then consult dermatologist and oncologist for proper examination and treatment .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
