Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Tongue

I have had areas on tongue that are red and feel raw and burnt. Tongue feels like it s swollen. It s been like this for three months. I have hemochromatosis and been doing phlebotomies for the last year and a half. I now have the iron level down to around 20. The iron overload has caused stage 4 cirrhosis had gallbladder removed. Thyroid still is high despite mess. The tongue did not start this until feratin was below 200. I ve taken magic mouthwash for two weeks. I ve taken some antibiotic for 10days and did 16 days of nystatin. None of these done anything other then urinating blood. Could this be a vitamin and iron or zinc defisionsy from phlebotomies

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood your problem.
You have Hemochromatosis, have done phlebotomies, to reduce the iron overload.
The tongue problem started after ferritin was below 200, it is swollen, red, feel raw and burnt for the last 3 months.
You have associated thyroid and cirrhosis with gall bladder removal done.

The tongue problem may not be due to the deficiencies of iron, vitamin and zinc due to phlebotomies.
Yet you have to take the supplements of Vitamins and folic acid.

See that the thyroid is well settled as hypothyroidism can cause this. Local applications of anything will not help.
If this is due to angioneurotic edema, you will need oral steroid in tapering dosages.

Consult an ENT or Oral Surgeon for a second opinion.
