Suggest Treatment For Swollen Ankles And Fungal Infection In Toe

Have what podiatrist thinks might be nail fungus on big toes,prescribed jubilant, one drop ever night, but not sure it s working, keeping feet clean, drying with hair dryer then applying one drop...how long di I have to do this? Also ankles get very swollen ,have what I think is edema..is this related to the nail fungus?

Hello,

For fungal infection of the toe the medications effective are a course of Fluconazole (Diflucan) or Terbinafine (Lamisil). Keep the nails clean, dry & short. Wash your hands after touching the infected nails. Avoid sharing shoes & socks.

You can apply anti fungal cream/ointment in the affected area. It should get healed in 2-3 weeks. If it does not , then your treating GP may suggest a minor surgery.
