Suggest Treatment For Swollen Ankles And Fungal Infection In Toe
Have what podiatrist thinks might be nail fungus on big toes, prescribed jubilant, one drop ever night, but not sure it s working, keeping feet clean, drying with hair dryer then applying one drop...how long di I have to do this? Also ankles get very swollen ,have what I think is edema..is this related to the nail fungus?
For fungal infection of the toe the medications effective are a course of Fluconazole (Diflucan) or Terbinafine (Lamisil). Keep the nails clean, dry & short. Wash your hands after touching the infected nails. Avoid sharing shoes & socks.
You can apply anti fungal cream/ointment in the affected area. It should get healed in 2-3 weeks. If it does not , then your treating GP may suggest a minor surgery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
