Suggest Treatment For Swollen Ankles

My foot is swelling at the ankle on both sides. I have not sprained it. I notice that when I stand or walk it swells more and I can t hardly walk on it. I raise it up at night but in the morning it is still so painful to stand on it. After I walk for a minute, I can walk but I am still in pain. It also hurt on the bottom middle of my foot and my toes are numb from the middle toe left.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

We have to rule out possible causes like contusion or dependent oedema. Consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
