Suggest Treatment For Swollen Calf And Pus Discharge
Hello, I m having a problem with my leg. I m not sure if its an ingrown hair or what s going on, but my calf is swollen and infected. If I squeeze a decent amount of puss comes out and I was wondering if there s some way to take care of it at home vs going to the doctors.
From your explanation it looks like infection that is leading to abscess formation causing pus drainage. It can be probably bacterial infection that has progresses deep. As you have pus discharge and it is continuously draining then you need to get yourself checked. You should not treat it at home as incomplete drainage as well as inappropraite procedures can lead to spreading of infection.
Therefore, my suggestion is to consult at an emergency room and get evaluated. If there is deep infection then Incision and Drainage can be done followed by a course of antibiotics to reduce infection quickly. If infection is too deep and aggressive any a times injectable antibiotics can be be advised.. For now it is better to get treated soon so that the infection do not spread to deeper layers.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
