Suggest Treatment For Swollen Calf Muscle

I had a chest infection which lasted 6 weeks, I started to use a nebulizer to breath, which has helped. 2 days ago my right calf swelled up, it is hot to touch and very tender. what could it be and what can i do to help without having to see a doctor or go to the hospital as i fear them. i have had head aches with it and am layed up in bed can not walk on my leg. please help
