Suggest Treatment For Swollen Foot While Suffering From ACL Injury

Can a torn ACL cause swelling in the Foot? I tore my ACL back in august, I got the MRI and consultations from my Orthopedist already but I keep putting the surgery off, because i get a lot of negative feed back from having the surgery, but from time to time my foot swells. is there a cause to hurry and do the surgery??
