Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lower Extremities With Painful Blisters
My daughter had a blood transfusion about 6 weeks ago after a complicated delivery. She lower extremities have been extremely swollen ever since. They are red, infected, have blister like spots and extremely painful, She can hardly walk. She had this same reaction several years back with another transfusion and it took like 3 years to finally start clearing up. She has been to numerous doctors and no one can tell her the cause or give her treatment. HELP!!!!
It could be of great help if you can send a picture of her lower extremities with painful blisters. There are 2 main and serious issues we should rule out in the case of your daughter: - Severe reaction from blood transfusion - Local thrombus (clogged blood vessels) or chronic veins insufficiency.
So, she needs to see cardiologist, angiologist, and check her liver / kidney function to determine the right diagnosis. You can discuss this further with her caring doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
