Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Node In The Neck

Hello, I am 20 years old and the right side of my neck is swollen. I have been told that it was a swollen lymph node and was told not worry about it unless it gets really big, but there is pressure on that side and also on the front of my throat, my shoulder has sharp pains along with sharp pains under my armpit where the other lymph nodes are, and then there is sharp pains on the right side of my chest that goes off and on. I am concerned about it even though the doctor I went to see wasn t but I also feel like she didn t really care since I went in for a different reason. Should I be concerned that it might be breast cancer or something along those lines?

Hi,

A 20-year-old likelihood of breast cancer is extremely unlikely. Lymphatic cancer is far more common (but still pretty rare).

Ok, localized infections such as dental ones generally have a lot more symptoms (like feeling sick, fever, chills) before killing you. The fatality is from the infection going into the neck structures with pus and swelling. It's pretty obvious.

Lymph node cancer has to start small and one place BUT, it keeps growing in an unregulated manner because, cancer. If the nodes and swelling are regulated in size, localization (not invading), and shape then it isn't unregulated growth. Mononucleosis, other viral infections, autoimmune disease can cause lymph node swelling that is not unregulated in size and shape.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
