Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my 12 year old son fell on his right hand thumb yesterday and he heard a loud "crack". His thumb is completely swollen now and he can't manipulate it. I took him for an x-ray and it shows a possible fracture on the outside second phalangy. This morning after I wrapped it to keep it still overnight, it is still extremely swollen. The doctor we saw yesterday said not to wrap it because he wasn't sure that it was fractured. He suggested to just keep it stil and ice it. I'm giving advil for pain and swelling, and I've wrapped it to keep it immobile... anything else I can do if it is fractured?
