Suggest Treatment For Swollen Tonsils And Difficulty In Swallowing.
Hello 2 days ago I got really swollen tonsils and had a. White coating covering it all? I couldn t swallow, or eat, sleeping and breathing was hard. Went to the clinic that day and got blood work done for strep and mono results still pending. I was given augmentin and ibuprofen for pain. Pain was 8/10 and unbearable when swallowing. The next day I went to the ER and got I VE dexamethasone and a bicillin shot IM. I got better soon after, and by the next day most of the white coating slothed off. Today, the day after what I just mentioned the pain is back and 8/10 and worse when swallowing. There is residual white coating and tonsils are still enlarged but my voice is normal and have no difficulty breathing. The pain radiates to my teeth and ear. What should I do? What do you think I have? Should I go back to the ER and take another shot? Thanks 4th yr medical student
