Suggest Treatment For Swollen Tonsils

For the last 2 months I have have 4 seperate rounds of Amoxicillin for swollen tonsils with pus pockets on them. I was given a step test and it was negative. I finally went to another doctor and he said it was allergies so he gave me a steroid nasal spray and told me to buy Zyrtec OTC and give it a week, if that didn't work he wrote me a prescription for a Z-Pack. It has been a week and my throat hurts everytime I swallow as well as having little pus pockets appearing again, and red almost bleeding spots on my tonsils with an aggravating cough sometimes at night. At this point I will try the Z-Pack but all I would really like is an answer as to why my throat always hurts and how to prevent it in the future. I am a new mother with a 7 month old who has been ill with ear aches for the last few weeks and haven't had very much sleep the last 2-3 weeks so maybe that is a factor in my healing, but otherwise my husband and I eat very healthy foods, and take vitamins everyday. The only thing I need more of is exercise but the last 2 months I haven't felt like doing a thing I am tired all the time. At this point I am desperate for answers. Please help.

As per your query you have symptoms of swollen tonsils which seems to be due to tonsillitis/tonsil stones. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles on daily basis. You should take antibiotic Amoxicillin for 5 days in combination with antiinflammatory medication. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get throat swab test done and go for blood tests as well and start treatment after proper prescription. Avoid oily, sharp food and cold beverages. Drink plenty of fluids.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
