i have mono ive been on 2 packs of antibiotics and a steroid pack for the swelling. i dont seem to be getting better. my left tonsil was the most swollen in the beginning then it went down after the steroids. now my right tonsil is really swollen. what should i do?
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query. The swelling in the tonsil and the limited mouth opening can be because of the peritosillar abscess or pterygomandibular space infection. Nothing to be panic, you can take a course of antibiotics preferably amoxicillin and metronidazole combination(if you are not allergic). Do warm saline gargling. Better to start the antibiotics immediately, otherwise the infection will spread to involve the adjacent tissues. You can stop using steroids, because it reduces your immunity. I hope i have answered your query. Take care.
