Suggest Treatment For Swollen Vaginal Labia

My wife is experiencing swollen labia minoras; the left is more swollen than the right, and both seem to have red abrasions, and are quite painful to her; she is 45 years old, and this is the first time this has happened to her. what is your diagnoses; prognosis and/or recomendation for treatment.
