Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of ADHD

I have been doing some research on ADHD and I feel like I am resembling these symptoms. I consistently find myself procrastinating and not wanting to start specific jobs like typing this while I am at work right now and should be working, but I just cant find the motiviation to start my next project. Are there certain questions I should ask you or myself before I go see my doctor?

Hi,

Brief answer: In my opinion, if your symptoms are causing you to feel distressed or are interfering with your work or social life, you should consult your doctor.

Long answer: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can manifest different ways but will typically include symptoms of inattention and hyperactivity/impulsive behaviors.

Taking a thorough history from adult patients with ADHD will usually demonstrate a pattern of these symptoms in early childhood.

Lack of motivation may be symptom of ADHD, but it can also be a symptom of depression. Sometimes a feelings of apathy and lack of motivation may be due to an underlying medical condition, like low thyroid hormone levels.

In my opinion, I would suggest that you consult with your doctor about your symptoms because they appear to be interfering with your work. Your doctor may order some blood work for labs to rule out some medical causes for your symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Aaron Shapiro
